GAR Result Assessment

General assessment of the quality of your investment

What does the GAR measure?

The quality of an investment can be assessed based on four key factors: security, liquidity (availability), return, and sustainability. Only by considering these aspects together – tailored to your personal circumstances – can a sound assessment be made.

The comparison of the return with inflation is particularly important: Only those who maintain or increase the purchasing power of their savings over the long term have not lost the accumulated 'energy'. Nominal gains therefore say little as long as they do not exceed the real loss in value caused by inflation.

The Four Result Scenarios

Scenario 1 — Very Good Result

Final capital is above Rendistato and above inflation

Your investment has achieved a positive overall result (to date). The calculated final capital exceeds both the benchmark return of Italian government bonds (Rendistato) and the inflation-related adjusted value (ISTAT FOI Index).

This means that you have not only preserved the real value of your savings, but have also generated an effective return. In light of the risks taken and the duration for which the capital was tied up, this is a positive result – provided that the investment also met your personal needs in terms of security, liquidity, and, where applicable, sustainability.

Scenario 2 — Mixed Result

Final capital is above Rendistato, but below inflation

Although your investment performed better than comparable Italian government bonds, it was unable to fully compensate for inflation. In terms of real purchasing power, this means that the accumulated wealth has lost value, even if a nominal profit is shown.

This result must be assessed in relation to the risk taken – the higher the risk of your investment compared with low-risk government bonds, the more critical this result becomes. A review of the investment strategy is advisable.

Scenario 3 — Negative Result

Final capital is slightly below Rendistato and below inflation

Your investment has fallen short of both the return of comparable government bonds and inflation. However, the real loss in value is moderate.

Other factors – such as security, guarantees, particular liquidity, or personal preferences – may have played a role in choosing this investment. Nevertheless, it is advisable to critically review the investment and, if necessary, consider a realignment. The GAR is a suitable tool for continuously monitoring your investments.

Scenario 4 — Significant Loss

Final capital is significantly below inflation

The result of your investment differs significantly from the inflation-adjusted development in value. Such a substantial real loss can have various causes – from unfavorable market developments to structural deficiencies in the advice provided or in the contractual arrangements.

In such cases, it is advisable to check whether all relevant legal requirements were complied with in the brokerage and management of your investment.

Through an agreement with a specialized law firm, Robin offers a free initial assessment. Particularly favorable terms have also been negotiated for initiating any potential legal proceedings (for losses exceeding 10,000 euros). Note: The GAR does not replace detailed professional advice. Tax aspects are not taken into account due to their complexity. For a more precise evaluation, it is advisable to use net dividends and amounts actually paid out (after tax).
